Many greens constructed more than 20 years ago were clay based so that moisture would be retained to enhance play in the drier summer months.Now that the majority of these greens are irrigated,drainage problems are common.

Now we have the perfect way of removing excess soil water and associated surface ponding by installing MICROBANDS-their action is such that play may be almost immediately.

Our Single Leg Gravel Band Drainer is mounted on the three point linkage of a compact tractor.

The vibrating hopper on a sub-frame.A coulter disc cuts the turf and a virbrating stainless steel channel opener creates a channel from 100mm to 300mm deep.The channel may be from 6mm to 20 mm wide.The gravel box vibrates the permeable fill into the opening.The permeable fill may be brought to the surface,or recessed,by means of a depth adjuster.Aguide wheel leaves the turf flat.

A light topdressing will permit immediate play.The water needs somewhere to drain and this may necessitate the installation of a drainage pipe off the green itself.

We also utilizes a bigger ,trailed Gravel Band Drainer,which installs two bands of drainage medium 20mm wide,250mm deep and 400mm apart,to provide an intensive surface drainage system(over an existing piped system).
